New Patients

I offer easy and convenient scheduling right from my website. There are two types of initial appointments: a 15-minute video/phone consultation or a standard 1-hour intake appointment. The easiest way to schedule either type of appointment is to click the request appointment button. My website will walk you through the steps to select the type of meeting and will provide any necessary paperwork to get started.

What does a first session look like?

A first therapy session typically sets the foundation for the therapeutic relationship and establishes a safe and supportive environment. The session begins with an introduction, a discussion of the therapeutic process, confidentiality, and a review of any necessary paperwork. I encourage patients to share their reasons for seeking therapy and their goals for treatment. We explore their history, including significant life events, relationships, and challenges. Active listening and open-ended questions guide the session as I attempt to learn the patient’s personal narrative. I strive to create create a welcoming space where patients can freely express their thoughts, emotions, and concerns. By the end of the first session, we collaboratively establish the groundwork for future sessions and develop a treatment plan tailored to the individual’s needs.
